Counselor: Lori Barthel, LPC, NCC

Professional Background: I earned a Master Degree in Counselor Education from the University of New Orleans. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and a National Certified Counselor. Additionally, I hold an Ancillary Certificate for School Counseling through the Louisiana State Department of Education. I am currently working on attaining my National School Counselor Certification that I hope to complete at the end of this year.

Personal Background: I have been married for six years to my husband, Brandon, and we have three children, Logan (9), Harley Rose (3) and Phoenix Rose (1)

Personal Statement: As the counselor for Riverside Elementary, I believe counseling is a profession that focuses on building constructive, meaningful, and enjoyable human experiences. I am happily here to assist the administration, teachers, parents, and, most of all, the students to identify and remove barriers that may inhibit student achievement, growth, and development.

Throughout the school year, I will present classroom guidance lessons on topics such as peer relations, respect, social skills, bullying, anger management, positive self talk, communication skills, and other topics that may be of interest to the students. I will also see students individually based upon referrals from parents, administrators, teachers, and the students themselves.
